Building Model

Building Model can be see as architectural model. But if we say architectural model, have more then one means. They can be landscape, interior, or construction. An architectural model is a type of a scale model, tangible (also called sometimes physical) representation of a structure built to study aspects of an architectural design or to communicate design ideas to clients, committees, and the general public. So we can say Building model is the part of architectural model. Building model are a tool which may be used for show, presentation, fundraising, permit obtaining and sale purposes.

Building model can be see as maquette, 3D pictures or Virtual model. A maquette is a small scale model unfinished architectural work or a sculpture. More architects will make a maquette of their building in order to show their design to many people. It will show idea of the architect and can be seen by others people. The benefit of this building model is people can see every corner of the building and people get much information and representation of the building design. But for complicated building form, it takes much time to make this kind of building model.

Other kind of building model is 3D pictures. Every architect must be able to draw 3D pictures, hand drawing or using 3D software. It’s because of every architect must tell the information by using this kind of building model to the client or many people in order to make many people understand with the building design. It’s very easy to made but not all of pictures tell all of information of the design because most 3D pictures only take some part of pictures so there is information can’t be known by client or people.

And the last of building model is virtual model. It can be 3D Pictures or Animation of the building. Over the last few decades, detailed construction has been increasingly designed in CAD (Computer Aided Design) systems. The technology of building model is improving rapidly. While virtual tours (animation) are undoubtedly useful, they are still limited to images on a computer screen, and lack the sensory impact, or qualia, of a physical model.

That’s all of building models most used by architects, designers or landscape designer. Every kinds of building models have benefit and lack. It’s depend on the maker, which one will be use because they are limited by time, material and budget.
